2023 Grants

Levera Beach, Grenada

Ocean Spirits is a Grenadian organization that has worked to protect nesting leatherbacks on this beach for more than a decade. Estimated hatchlings saved: 7,000

Jiquilisco Bay, El Salvador

ProCosta is a Salvadoran organization that works to protect several hawksbill nesting areas in the country. The hawksbills of the Eastern Pacific are among the world’s most endangered sea turtle populations. Estimated hatchlings saved: 10,000

2022 Grants

Colola Beach, Mexico

This program, run in collaboration between the local Nahua indigenous community and the University of Michoacan, is the most important nesting beach in the world for black turtles, a sub-species of green turtles that can be found in the Eastern Pacific ocean.

Estimated hatchlings saved: 375,000

Punta Pargos, Costa Rica

Sea Turtles Forever has worked to protect black turtles and olive ridleys nesting on this beach since 2002. They work with the local community to monitor the beach, protect the nests, and remove microplastic from the beach.

Nancite & Naranjo Beaches, Costa Rica

Biologist Luis Fonseca and his team work in the remote Santa Rosa National Park on two important beaches for olive ridley and leatherback turtles.

Palmarito Turtle Camp, Mexico

This organization protects a 21 km beach that is one of the most important for critically endangered Pacific leatherback turtles.

Equipo Tora Carey, Costa Rica

ETC works to protect several nesting beaches on Costa Rica’s north Pacific coast. They protect primarily green and olive ridley turtles.

Mayto Turtle Camp, Mexico

Mayto works to protect olive ridleys, greens, and leatherbacks nesting on Mexico’s Pacific coast. We provided funds to help rebuild their station after a recent hurricane.

Sea Turtle Conservancy works to protect this important nesting beach for leatherback and hawksbill turtles along Panama’s northern Caribbean coast.
