Sea Turtle Week Wrap
Sea Turtle Week 2023 was a huge success and we wanted to thank everyone who participated. It was amazing to see so many people around the world celebrate sea turtles. Here are some of the highlights from this year:
Volunteers with Agbo Zeque’s Sea Turtle Week beach cleanup in Togo
100 new Sea Turtle Week partners from around the world, bringing our total to more than 250 participating organizations.
At least 8.4 million people reached across all platforms.
50+ beach cleanups for the Global Ocean Cleanup that helped to clean up tens of thousands of lbs of trash and involved thousands of volunteers.
Our Photo Contest received 392 photos from 249 photographers of the 7 turtle species.
Our Children's Art Contest received 194 pieces of children's artwork from 22 countries.
Our Scientist of the Year Contest had 18 scientist nominees from 10 countries.
New children's lessons, coloring sheets, and other resources and tons of new graphics created by our interns.
We created a new Sea Turtle Week YouTube series with 5 fun episodes.
